Ryan Sessegnon Says He’s Excited by Mourinho’s Appointment in Tottenham and honored to be Compared with Ashley Cole

Recently, Tottenham announced that Jose Mourinho has been appointed as its new coach. This was 11 months after the football legend was sacked from Manchester United. The appointment was met with mixed reactions from the global football community. Players also had different opinions about the appointment. However, most of the Tottenham players believe that Mourinho was the right man for the job. During a recent interview, Ryan Sessegnon also expressed his excitement in the new appointment.

Ryan Sessegnon Says Mourinho Was the Right Choice; Sessegnon openly admitted that he was excited over the roof when he heard that Mourinho was appointed to Tottenham. Sessegnon said “I was excited right after spurs appointed him. He is one of the biggest managers in the game. He has won many things. Younger players can improve themselves with his assistance.”

It is important to note that while Sessegnon is a fan of Mourinho, Mourinho is also a fan of Sessegnon. Shortly after he joined the Spurs, Mourinho made some comparisons between Sessegnon and Ashley Cole. While he was with Chelsea, Mourinho managed Cole. Sessegnon said that he was honored to be compared to Cole.

Sessegnon went on to say that Mourinho always gives him tips and pointers that can help him improve as a player. He said Mourinho appears like a manager who is ready to do what it takes to win. He said that Mourinho’s words increase his confidence and propel him to work harder.

Sessegnon continued; “I certainly had an eye on Cole when I was growing up. I was an attacking full-back but I can also provide assists, and supply goals. Cole is certainly one of the players I looked up to.”
