China’s National Health Commission in their daily report to China’s Central government published that 2,829 new cases of coronavirus were reported nationwide on February 2nd. The total number of infected cases in China alone has risen to 17,205 and it is said to be rising gradually. The death toll has risen to 361 with 57 deaths reported on Sunday alone. New cases in the numbers of 5,713 were added on Sunday.

186 patients turned seriously ill while 147 people were discharged after given the all-clear. However, 2,296 people remained in extremely severe condition and an additional 21,558 people were suspected of being infected with the virus.

China is turning into a war-zone against the deadly coronavirus and at the moment the latter seems to be winning. The spread of the virus has taken a huge toll on China’s economy as major tech firms have either closed shops or initiated a work from home policy with many U.S firms closing shops for an unprecedented amount of time, including Apple and Ikea.

Giving credit where credit should be due, China was hard at work as they completed a new isolated ward to treat patients, especially for the coronavirus infected subjects. The new ward was made in almost a week with China’s workforce working round the clock in setting up the ward which can house 1,000 people.

Another 2,300 makeshift hospital is in the making and would be opened on Wednesday adjacent to it. A total medical staff of 1,400 from the armed forces were acquired for treating of the infected patients. The medical team consists of 950 personnel associated with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Joint Logistics Support Force and 450 personnel were hand-picked from medical universities from the army, navy and the air-force of the PLA.
