Latest reports claim that Reliance Retail’s digital commerce arm, JioMart, will quickly transform into an e-marketplace, that would offer multiple options, from fashion lifestyle, beauty, and home to kitchen and grocery on the same platform, in a bid to surpass the likes of Amazon and Flipkart ahead of the festive season.
For those unaware, the retail giant was already in the process of integrating third-party sellers in its platform over the past few months with the view to amplifying its options across multiple categories.
Initiating a press release to confirm the new development, a spokesperson from JioMart claimed that the e-commerce mogul is ready to become an all-inclusive store for its customers to capitalize on their shopping lists this Diwali, including everything from food to fashion.
In addition, the platform is slated to announce exclusive deals on consumer durables and electronics with surplus discounts on products from its home brands like Reliance Digital and Reliance Trends.
Chief Executive Officer of JioMart, Sandeep Varaganti, stated that the main motive of this company was to create an innovative digital retail eco-system that focuses on empowering micro, small, & medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Kirana stores, local artisans, and budding women entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, he asserted that the platform is steadily welcoming native craftspeople and sellers into their trade, while parallelly expanding on several categories across segments, which has significantly multiplied their stock keeping units (SKUs) to 80x, a remarkably high in comparison to the last year.
Isha Ambani, director at Reliance Retail Ventures stated that the core motive of venturing into the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business was to deliver high-quality products that are suitable for every Indian’s needs. It is worth noting that JioMart has begun its sale on 23rd September, which is expected to last until 23rd October.
