Both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are now podcasters. Spotify, one of the leading digital music service providers, has reportedly announced an exclusive new partnership with Archewell Audio, The Duke and Duchess of Sussexes’ recently launched audio production company.
The new deal would allow the duo to substantially grow their streaming as well as media footprint. In September, Meghan and Harry signed a lucrative multi-year production deal with Netflix.
For Spotify, the leading music streaming app, which is also building a podcast empire with key acquisitions as well as unique content from famous names, the deal fixes its status as a destination for riveting audio content. In fact, in June, Kim Kardashian West signed a deal with Spotify. In July, Michelle Obama introduced on Spotify, “the Michelle Obama Podcast”. One of the most famous podcasts worldwide “The Joe Rogan Experience” is also exclusive to Spotify now.
This new partnership would bring in exclusive content from two or more big names to serve and increase the music streaming app’s global audience of nearly 320 million active monthly users.
Spotify in its official statement said that the two would host as well as produce podcasts that build community over shared experiences, values, and narratives.
This multi-year partnership includes various programs, some hosted while others produced by both the Duke and Duchess. A holiday special hosted by the royal couple would probably be launched later this month. Meghan and Harry’s first ever series would also debut the upcoming year. All projects would be available exclusively on the music streaming app.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated that what they really love about podcasting is that it reminds everyone to take a moment and to actually listen and connect with each other without having any interruption.
Dawn Ostroff, chief content and advertising business officer, Spotify, had stated last year that the firm was making plans to offer more exclusives in an effort to attract users from other podcast channels.
