Pune-based Mylab Discovery Solutions, a local biotechnology firm, has reportedly announced establishing strategic partnership with U.S-based Hemex Health, to develop and launch next-generation diagnostic solutions for Point-of-Care testing of coronavirus and other chronic diseases.
According to reliable reports, under this partnership, Mylab is looking forward to developing test assays while Hemex would offer its proficiency and Gazelle POC testing platform to the partnership and product development. It has been reported that the portable diagnostic devices and test assays will help in testing at any location, across an expansive range of environmental conditions, and without the need to transport the sample, generating rapid test results for the patients.
Reports suggest that both the companies would conjointly develop Electrophoresis-based and Fluorescence Immunoassay (FIA) diagnostic solutions. The tests are considered to be highly sensitive than the normal rapid antigen tests and pose of fewer false negatives.
Furthermore, the solution would be unitedly launched in various international markets, including Europe, the US, and Asia. Moreover, the alliance would bring together deep knowledge in product ideation, molecular diagnostic technology, and novel technology development and deployment to enhance testing capabilities for COVID-19 globally.
Commenting on the latest partnership, Hasmukh Rawal, Managing Director at Mylab Discovery Solutions quoted that with its accurate FIA test kits, Mylab aims at making testing available remotely- right from small village without electricity to an international airport.
Rawal further added that the firm believes that this alliance would potentially help India and the world in avoiding subsequent waves of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, CEO and Co-Founder of Hemex Health, Patti White stated that in 2020, Mylab has showcased exceptional ability to move quickly to solve big challenges posed by coronavirus pandemic. Essentially, the companies are sharing the same drive to make a difference in lives of the people.
Speculations have it that the first product through this partnership is estimated to be launched by November this year.
