British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reportedly taken a vow to open fifty mass Covid Vaccination centers across the UK by next month. In an apparent race to remove lockdowns across the country, several regional centers are set to be set up for helping the Prime Minister achieve his target of providing the vaccinations to 14 million British residents by middle of February.
Speaking on the vaccination program, Matt Hancock, The UK Health Secretary, stated that every adult in the country is intended to receive the Covid vaccine by autumn with 200,000 residents already getting vaccinated each day.
It has been reported that the first seven jab centers, including conference centers and football grounds are scheduled to open next week. These jab centers, which will staff NHS workers and volunteers, are expected to open at Robertson House, Stevenage; Etihad Tennis Centre, Manchester; and the Centre for Life, Newcastle.
Furthermore, the ExCel in London, which is also the capital's Nightingale Hospital, will be utilized for administering the jabs, however it is not clear how it will be split. Other jab centers are based in Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey, Millennium Point in Birmingham, and Ashton Gate Stadium, Bristol. These new additions will sit beside 775 GP-led centers and 207 hospital sites that are poised to open by the end of the week.
Other possible sites in the Midlands are the Black Country Living Museum, Dudley; Villa Park, home of Aston Villa FC and Malvern's Three Counties' Showground and Worcestershire.
As per credible sources, this program is being supported by renowned millionaire businessman and MP Nadhim Zahawi, who is also the founder of polling company YouGov. Ministers expect the new centers will deliver two million jabs per week by the start of next month.
Besides, several businesses across the country have extended their services for the purpose. For instance, the supermarket chain Morrisons has come forward to offer its support by providing car parks at three of its stores. Similarly, stores across Yeovil, Winsford, and Wakefield will organize drive-through vaccinations starting from Monday, with more 47 being provided to the Government.
