After various COVID-19-related postponements in opening its brand-new Mario-themed area, USJ (Universal Studios Japan) has reportedly announced that the Super Nintendo World is set to open soon on March 18th, 2021. The long-awaited brand-new addition would come with attractions such as real-life Mario Kart and would feature some of the most unique characters and creatures of Nintendo.
Videos and photos of the new theme park previewed that walking through the new Super Nintendo World would feel much like moving through a Mario game, with blocks to punch to collect numerous virtual coins as well as items while exploring. Some of the other attractions, which are expected to create long lines, includes a Yoshi’s Adventure ride, Princess Peach’s castle, and real-world Mario Kart track.
The new park also showed its power-band system, which is a wearable device that permits visitors to interact with a few of the hidden elements of the park.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the USJ would limit the total number of people allowed in the theme park at any given time so as to prevent coronavirus infection from spreading. In addition, those individuals who wish to enter the Super Nintendo World need to purchase a Universal Express Pass, which will grant them access to Super Nintendo World at an assigned time. To purchase the Universal Express Pass or to virtually visit the park, the individuals could visit the official website of Super Nintendo World.
Meanwhile, the U.S-based Super Nintendo World, set to open at the Epic Universe park in Orlando has been postponed to 2025. Universal Studios stated that the construction of the theme park was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic and has just been recommenced. It was originally scheduled to open in the year 2023.
